Plugg Airy

Plugg wants everything rounded off: soft 808s in C and F with 3rd and 5th slides, click kicks, a snap and a muffled clap instead of hard hits, airy 808 hats and a maraca on top. 145 BPM, fully original.

Play the pads below (keyboard works too), hit Play to hear the kit's signature groove, or open the Sequencer tab and program your own beat — then share it as a link or take the WAVs with you. Every sound is produced in-house, nothing resampled, nothing to clear.

The style

Trap's soft-spoken cousin

Plugg surfaced from SoundCloud's mid-2010s underground, shaped by producers like MexikoDro and StoopidXool: trap's tempo and 808 foundation, but with all the aggression sanded off. Dreamy bell and pad melodies float over drums that tap rather than slap — a beat you lean into instead of brace against. The later pluggnb wave pushed it further, wrapping R&B vocals and chords around the same drum language.

The drum rules are about restraint: kicks are soft clicks, the backbeat is a finger snap or a muffled clap rather than a cracking snare, hats are the 808's own, played soft so they whisper through the mix, and the 808s are round and warm, often sliding between notes. Space and softness do the work that distortion does elsewhere.

This kit keeps every element inside that dynamic: 808s in C and F voiced soft, with slides to the 3rd and 5th for melodic bass movement, two click kicks, a snap and a muffled clap for the backbeat, soft and crisp rims, airy 808 hats with a roll, a maraca and a modal crash. Suggested tempo 145 — plugg lives in trap's faster half.

Plugg Airy — questions

What separates plugg from regular trap?

Texture and temperament. Same half-time skeleton and tuned 808s, but plugg swaps hard kicks and cracking snares for clicks, snaps and muffled claps, and puts dreamy melodies where trap puts menace. If your drums feel too polite for trap, you're doing plugg right.

What is pluggnb?

A newer offshoot that lays R&B vocals and lush chords over plugg drums. The same kit works — the softness of the percussion is exactly what lets sung melodies sit on top.

What BPM is plugg?

Typically 140–160 BPM in half-time; this kit suggests 145. The airy hats can run straight sixteenths with occasional rolls — plugg hats move less frantically than drill or rage.
