Free kick samples (29)

Sine-and-pitch-drop kicks, most of them carrying an optional 2–5 kHz attack layer that is named on the pad — a Beater kick is the mallet-on-head transient, a Click kick is the sharper electronic tick. That layer is what decides whether a kick survives a busy mix on laptop speakers, so it is printed into the sample rather than left for you to EQ back in.

The clap is a burst of offset noise transients rather than one hit, which is why it reads as several hands and why the spacing between them changes the whole character. Tight claps sit under a snare, hard ones replace it, and a snap does the same job an octave brighter and half as wide.

These are the TR-808's own circuit rather than filtered noise: six square oscillators at the machine's frequencies into two parallel bridged-T bandpasses at 7100 and 3440 Hz, a nonlinear VCA, then a highpass cascade. That is where the metallic sizzle comes from, and it is why they cut through a mix that noise-derived hats disappear into.

Yes. Every WAV on this page downloads on click, with no signup, no email gate and no attribution requirement — and it is royalty-free for commercial releases, not just for practice.

Can I download a single drum sample instead of the whole kit?

That is what this page is for. Every sample below is a direct WAV link. If you would rather take the sixteen sounds it ships with in one go, the kit page has a zip.

What format are the samples?

24-bit / 44.1 kHz stereo WAV, peak-normalized, dry, and trimmed to the hit — they drop straight onto a sampler pad or a Channel Rack slot with nothing to clean up first.

Where do the sounds come from?

Every one is synthesized in-house from classic analog recipes — sine plus pitch drop, noise through bandpasses, FM and ring-modulated metal, modal resonator banks. Nothing is sampled off a record or repacked from another kit, so there is nothing to clear.

Can I hear a sample before downloading it?

Yes — each kit page loads its sixteen sounds onto playable pads, so you can audition a snare in the context of the kit it was voiced for before you take it.
