A second trap kit isn't a rerun if it changes the answers to the same questions. Vol. 2 keeps the trap grammar — tuned 808 bassline, kick for attack, backbeat on the 3, hats carrying the motion — but re-voices every slot: the 808s move to D, G and A# with a pure sub alongside, the kick pair goes tight-and-round instead of punch-and-boom, the snare is crisper, the clap wider, and the hats run four lengths off the machine's own circuit.
Between the two volumes you get six 808 roots — C, D, D#, F, G and A# — which covers most keys without repitching more than a whole step, and two full drum voicings to alternate between sections or songs. Producers who work in pairs of kits stop sounding like a preset much faster than producers who exhaust one.
The modern touch here is width and edge: trap drums since the late 2010s absorbed drill's skip and rage's aggression, and Vol. 2's crisp snare, wide clap and noise hat lean into that — brighter and more forward than Vol. 1's classic voicing. Suggested tempo: 142.

How is Vol. 2 different from Vol. 1?
Different tunings and different voices in every slot: 808s in D, G and A# (Vol. 1 covers C, D# and F), a tight/round kick pair instead of punch/boom, a crisper snare, a wider clap and a noise hat in the set. Together the two volumes cover six 808 roots and two full drum characters.
Which 808 note fits my song's key?
Use the root of your key, or the fifth for movement. Across both Essentials volumes you have C, D, D#, F, G and A# — pick the closest and repitch at most a semitone or two to keep the character intact.
How do I stop the kick and 808 from fighting?
Give each its lane: either high-pass the kick and let the 808 own the sub, or sidechain the 808 a few dB under the kick's transient. The pure sub in this kit is the easy route — it has almost no attack, so the kick's transient sits on top naturally.
